Food Innovation Centre, Newport

This New Building was constructed as part of the Harper Adams university complex in Newport & was to carry out R&D for innovations in food development.

The project was designed with the rural location in mind, the completed project was required to be sympathetic to it's surroundings, the use of natural timber cladding and green roofing was selected to achieve this goal.

A Lightweight Aluminium standing seam roof was used under the green roofing, this was selected for it's maintenance free requirement & guarantee period of 30 years.
The aluminium roof was designed to provide a U value of 0.25 excluding the green roofing contribution.
The roof was installed over purlins with a liner sheet.

The green roof was installed from Seeds which grew organically over time into the completed roofing viewed above.

The roofing was completed with the installation of PPC fascia's.
